Hey Colon Cancer Support fam. Just wanted to share – today marks exactly 2 years since my scans confirmed No Evidence of Disease (NED) after finishing treatment for Stage 3B colon cancer (LAR surgery + 8 rounds FOLFOX). It feels surreal. Still dealing with some lingering neuropathy in my feet and scanxiety is definitely still a thing, but mostly feeling incredibly grateful today. This journey is tough, but there’s hope. Keep fighting, everyone. This community was a lifeline.
Awesome news, Michael! Congrats on 2 years! Quick question about the neuropathy - did it improve much between year 1 and year 2 NED, or plateau? Still got tingling from my chemo (FOLFIRI).
Thanks James! It improved very slowly, mostly in the first year. Maybe slightly better year 2, but largely plateaued now. Mostly annoying numbness/tingling in feet, hands are much better.
Less intense than FOLFOX stories maybe, but definitely there. Slow improvement is still improvement! Thanks for sharing the details. Congrats again!
Michael, that is WONDERFUL news! Congratulations!! Seeing posts like yours gives me such a boost, especially with my own surveillance stuff ongoing. Celebrate this huge milestone!
Thanks so much, Linda! That’s exactly why I wanted to share. Hope your surveillance continues to bring good news too. The anxiety is real, hang in there.
Agreed Linda! Congrats Michael! As someone on the yearly Lynch scope train, NED milestones are pure gold to see. Gives perspective.
Wow, congratulations Michael! Seeing someone 2 years out from a Stage 3 diagnosis is really inspiring, especially right now when everything feels so dark at the beginning. Thanks for sharing the hope.
Michael Johnson: (Replying to John Smith) Thanks John. Hang in there. The beginning is the absolute hardest. Focus on getting through treatment. There’s definitely light ahead, even if it’s hard to see now.
