Thinking back to my hospital stay after my right hemicolectomy (~5 months ago). That first week felt like such a blur of pain meds, nurses checking vitals, trying to walk the halls, and waiting for bodily functions to return. What do you remember most? Any tips or things that made your post-op hospital stay more comfortable or manageable? Curious to compare notes, and maybe help folks like John Smith who might be facing surgery soon.

This is SO helpful, Michael and David. Making a list now. Pillow, eye mask, earplugs, charger – check! Definitely nervous about the pain and walking part. How soon did they have you up?

Usually the day after surgery, John. Just short walks down the hall at first, with help. Take it slow. You can do it.

Yep, day after for me too. It feels impossible at first, but each time gets a tiny bit easier. And Michael’s right - stay ahead of the pain!
